Bigg Boss – Every man is the son of his works
If there is someone who has the right to boast that he was there when Czech rap was born and that the scene would look completely different without him, it is undoubtedly the people around PSH and their label – Bigg Boss. Vladimír, Orion and others managed to work their way from the first tracks recorded in the beginning of the 90’s in Prague’s suburbs up to having their own label, producing timeless, quality sound and gaining wide support. Nevertheless, it cannot be said that Bigg Boss reached the top of the local rap scene – the top itself was constructed by Bigg Boss, and without the label and the people it unites, there would hardly be any top at all.
Bigg Boss will bring a unique and exclusive set to Císařská louka, bringing together on one stage almost the whole crew, and we will all get the chance to witness their ability to prove they deserve every last bit of the popularity and support they enjoy. The constructive approach and dedication of Vladimír 518 and his crew helped to build a label that enables musicians to produce records and to spread their sound among the audience in a quality package without the need to join a major label and become dependent upon its rules. Bigg Boss managed to gather the most talented people of the Czech rap and hip hop scene and to gain respect by hard work. Vladimír 518 himself is a proof of the wide range of activities Bigg Boss crew takes part in – cartoons, performances that interconnect sound and visual art and scenography are just some of the areas where he exercises his talent. But most often he shares the stage with the rest of his band, PSH – with Orion, a real life legend of Czech rap, and with DJ Mike Trafik, the man behind the quality of PSH releases and behind all the good sound in local hip hop and r’n’b.
The transcendence that Bigg Boss offers is not limited just to crossing borders between art forms. Hip hop subculture has always embraced anti-authoritarian ideals, DIY ethics and the support of antifascism. We can hear in their tracks and see in their videos that PSH still stand against racism, neo-nazism and state repression. Bigg Boss crew proves this attitude by their frequent support of events organized by Antifascist Action and Good Night White Pride campaign. May Day will be no exception.
